UK law allows us to ignore them and after a certain amount of time the debt simply disappears.

I once robbed Lloyd's Bank of £20,000 and Barclays of £4,000 - I had court letters and the odd bailiff at my door but unless they're from high court or have police with them - they've no right to enter your property. The letters and visits dried up years ago. 6 years I believe it is before it stops. I checked my credit report recently and there's no trace of them.

ive got a fuckin default on my credit report for £60 and i want to see the downfall of the entire banking industry in this country

good on u for getting away with that much

yes I have tried to edit this to put the paragraphs in but it won’t let me.

I did not know any of this about debt being wiped or bailiffs not being allowed to enter. Wish I’d taken out some loans six years ago... When I was a kid we had bailiffs come in when nobody was home and take everything inc the lightbulbs, maybe we were just robbed and thought it was bailiffs XD

Medical bills don’t really do anything, you don’t have to pay any of that for any reason.

They mean something if you want to keep your credit score in tact, they will give you derogatory marks on your report which can   shave off 15 points a piece.

They don’t do anything to your credit score or at least they haven’t done anything to mine.

I wish I lived in the UK then.

Here in the States your credit gets fucked and as a result you can't buy and rent houses unless they are in bad areas.

I have read endless reviews from these collectors, they report to your credit and each one will shave off multiple points.

What kind of medical bills do you have? I just went through a liver transplant, the debt is a little bit more substantial than normal medical debt from basic check ups and the like.

I don’t know if any of it has gone to collections but I have like a $3k bill for bullshit I’m never paying for (started in 2018) for like psychiatric reasons. I also have a heroin overdose bill I don’t plan to pay which is on the same level as your shit in terms of cost. Maybe I do get fucked for it but I’m not expecting it.

Interesting, it likely varies by collector and and debt.

I know for a fact they can report and that it will shave off a substantial portion of your credit which some people don't care about but it's not an option for me.

My mother has a credit score of like 430 for this reason she let everything lapse into collections and never payed - luckily she has plenty of people to live off of so it doesn't matter.
