Though there are many aspects to depression and it affects so many facets of individuals lives in all very unique ways
this topic is elusive and difficult to describe what it is like for those experiencing it.
in fact those that are struggling with it may ironically have a difficult time in general identifying and conveying their emotional and internal experiences.
there is a large difference between the symptoms and the experiences and affects of depression one ones life
and today I’m just trying to describe what it’s like in my experience.
(if you don’t have one of these experiences it does not mean you do not have depression and if you are questioning your mental health please do seek a professionals guidance. These are just based on my personal experiences. There is help and it’s not all hopeless. I would love for others to contribute any examples of their experiences as well.)
1. Put a large shelf, chair, or any random large intrusive object right in your door way of every room in your house. Try living like that for a week. Now you might have a taste of how difficult and annoying depression can be. How frustrated you become. And how tired you become, how unmotivated you might feel to bother with, doing tasks that involve having to go through the struggle door way again. Even feeling a little trapped should you be in a room surrounded with exits blocked by couches and shelves.
this is functional depression.
For major depression (the kind you think of people who cannot leave their bed for months) you would need to put five couches and five chairs and five shelves in each door way to amplify the difficulty.
