This is just a rambling post of thoughts and I'm just typing things i just heard in a documentary. So I dunno, I don't really have an opinion. It was just interesting and this is not very coherent.
Anyhow, suicides in the US are up 33% in the last 20 years. There were 47,000 suicides in 2017. AND more than 1.4 million Americans attempted suicide in 2017.
Suicide has become so rampant it's reversed life expectancy rates in the US for the past 3 years.
In 2015, a PNSA study indicated that middle-aged, white Americans were dying at a greater rate than ever before. Even as mortality rates declined in almost every major developed nation (with the exception of Russia), they rose steadily for the U.S., thanks to the uptick in suicides. American suicides are now at their highest point in 50 years - since the end of WW2.
Psychologists are at a loss to explain this but economists are weighing in on the cause
I sorta missed it but I think they said that feeling you can't get ahead financially can make you off yourself.
Other western countries face similar challenges that the US has faced but they aren't going mass seppukko?
So WTF is happening, Americans? Why you so sad?
