I was an addict living in a revolving household of addicts "getting clean", relapsing, ODing and dying.
What drugs were you facing as your struggle?
Heroin abuse is an ugly monster, and it changes the way people think. not all Human brains are the same but all addict brains function in the same general realm of addiction. Heroin is good, too good. people won't quit until they are made to quit.
So you think charging in and saying how they're weak and pathetic is going to make them strong enough to quit?
Check Lebeling Theory, as a lot of this is self-fulfilling prophecy risks being reinforced by your style of attacks. What if she had parents that pushed in the same way, causing you to hit her in direct triggers you lack the knowledge of through context?
There's a reason why this is a delicate field of study and not just the Dr. Phil method.
I had more passion in my original post because I was angry. I was angry to see a smart, cool person wasting potential and acting a fool. That's stupid. Maybe you're right about me projecting, but I'm not projecting some stupid TV show on her.
Probably one of the few people who'd be willing to admit to projection, nice.
Most insist "it is YOUUUU who is projecting!".
I'm projecting Michael, and Taylor, and Devin, and Allaina, and Zachary, and Brian, and Justine, and Katie, and Bethany, and Steven and every other addict I saw go through the same steps over and over and over. the pattern is the same, even if the face is different.
So this is about "One Size Fits All"?
Still, you said this stuff triggered you so at least it comes from a place of the heart, but a little empathy and compassion based on the "how" more than the "why" could be enough for such a lash-out to not risk collateral damages like that.
There's nothing wrong with being motivated into wanting to help someone, but each person needs their individual therapy cocktail to find the things that work for them.
As Alice mentioned, getting clean is a state of becoming. If you are always" getting clean" and never "clean" you are still just an addict.
Much like acquiring PTSD, you can't just drop having the experience. Knowledge changes people, and once you've tasted "The Forbidden Fruit" you can't just shake those sins from you.
If that's what you believe, then you're calling Blanc a lost cause for having tasted the stuff at all.
from my experience, addicts wont actually get better until you show them that they aren't better.
Is it your responsibility to be that person, and is it wise to just blurt out attacks and accusations without giving us some sort of narrative context first?
Seems like you're asking for a spark to become a forest fire.
The Emotional freak outs Blanc has may be caused by another mental illness, but addicts do the same thing. If anything the addiction is just exasterbating her mental problems, so she should deffinately still stop.
Have you tried talking to her about this yourself, or are you just gathering narrative from the surrounding grapevine?
Gossip can be dangerous like that.
I'm not going to be nice to heroin addicts anymore, in any context of my life. Heroin addicts are a waste of resources, providing absolutely no benefit to society, and only take up the time and resources of others. Stop being selfish, stop being a burden. Or end up dead. 2 of the 10 people i mentioned are dead now.
Here it is, "waste of space" logic. Who are you to say who is and isn't a waste of space in this meaningless existence?
