Trump's election in 2016 is why R v W is overturned today. It should have been a warning call when Pence, an evangelical pro-lifer, was his VP elect - Trump was being used as a tool to achieve their agenda. The entire reason the Christian right backed Trump was his promise to overturn the courts - and he did it. They looked away from all the other obvious corruption just to get this one thing achieved.
The modern left is responsible for this too. Their performative focus on identity politics and virtue signalling to vanity movements like appealing to trans activists and privileged causes like "gender identity" has worked to obliterate women's rights and reduced women to what many democrats now call "birthing people".
All of this was vanity politics to distract from real issues, like holding corporations to task for climate change and tax avoidance, and now hard fought women's - and next up gay rights - are up for grabs.
