1 is the most you could form a real relationship with. 3 is max that could possibly be considered "girlfriends" in shallow "relationships" with no substance. Any more than that and you are just a brojen person returning to the same fwb to numb pain inside you actually need therapy for.
Why do you assume that a person who prefers polyamorous relationships must be broken? What constitutes a "real" relationship that you feel excludes non-monogamous couples? And is it about more than the sex? Like, do you think a swinger couple aren't in a "real" relationship?
I said broken comes after polly. No one can form a deep romantic relationship with that many people at the same time. Then it's not romance, the person is just a flirt. Intamacy doesnt include infinite people. Saying having even 3 partners counts as relationships was a stretch in my opinion but shit, maybe they've got a day of the week system or something.
Look at polygamamous marriages. Usually there are 1-2 favorites and the rest are baby incubators trapped in loveless marriages.
If intamacy cannot be achieved in a "relationship" than there must be another reason for it. Sex addiction, fear of being alone, insecurity leading to sexual promiscuity as a way to prove one's worth.
All the things that make a relationship strong require forming a unique bond with your partner and trying to form that kind of bond with multiple partners weakens the stregth of them all.
