She does have some background in geology or smthg related to my field. We've had some interesting discussions over the years.

But she's hyper right wing, Eastern European homophobic/transphobic, and an ethnonationalist. 

She also seems religious, or so indoctrinated by the Eastern Orthodox worldview she grew up around, that she seems religious even if she's not.

I suspect that her religious biases may be what's keeping her mind closed to science, tbh.

I don't recall her ever posting a vocaroo.

I was originally on the forums to study people whose personality quirks would make interesting and believable characters for a book I was writing.

She was one of my character studies.

Pets can be fed and vet-cared for for diminishing prices leading towards being free, especially as a poor person. Also aren't cat and dog food basically the same price, and with a dog you don't need kitty litter?

I'm starting to think you just don't like pets, either that or you care more about pride than animals.

Not where I am.

Cat food was $9 for a bag of dry kibble, plus $8 for a case of wet canned food (12 cans) for when they got bored with eating the same thing all the time. That would feed my 2 cats for a full month. (The other one died in 2007  :()  Surprisingly, the price of cat food has not gone up in 13 years.

Dog food is $13 for 6 cans, which lasts 6 days. Multiply by 5 to last the whole month. 14kg of kibble to mix it with costs $30. Not sure how long that lasts bc I haven't fed a dog since the 90s. My sister fed her stupid dog when I lived there. I had to clean its piss off the kitchen floor every morning at 5am and listen to it whine its refusal to piss outside for 2 hours before that. 

So I absolutely was not going to feed the obnoxious creature, too.

So assuming that 14kg of dog food will last all month (and I suspect it's more like 28 kg of kibble that a dog needs to eat every month but w/e) that's $95. 5 times what it costs to feed 2 cats. So fuck that.

Litter was $3 for a cheap bag, which would fill their litter box twice. So $12 for a month's worth of cat litter.

Note: I don't see the cheap stuff on the walmart site anymore. Odds are good that my cheap ass gravelly litter has been completely replaced by clumping sand brands. Because manufacturers will make the shit that costs the most and not bother reviving brands that they can't gouge ppl for.

And don't even get me started on the cost of vet care. Those guys are the worst gold diggers out of all of the health professions, imo. They're even worse than dentists. And nobody gives charity for vet care to people who want to own pets. That's viewed with the same sort of disdain as people who want to be poor and still wear lipstick or play video games. Pets are a luxury.

The cat that died got attacked by one of my asshole neighbours and a garden tool. I spent over $2000 to fix him.

He died, anyway.
