This is kind of random but, I’ve been having a “lash issue”
so, I’m sort of figuring out that my eye shape is not suited for most lashes on the face of this earth. I had to waste enough money on trying different lashes to realize, none of them work for my eye or my face, or aren’t going to give the look I’m going for.
It’s a lot to explain, lmao. But basically the actual curvature of my eye is not suited for lash bands. Because the inside of the corners of my eyes curve so far in ward, and the outside of my eyes, push so far forward, it causes lashes to not stick to my inner corner.
And, on top of that, they don’t even ‘look right’ on the eye shape, because it’s so curved, the inner corner area of the lash that should be sticking upward for most people, and be sort of like, flush across the line of the lid. For me, that inner corner, the lashes are actually pointing or facing toward my nose. Inward. Instead of facing forward and going up, they’re facing inward and going sort of sideways.
So this forces me to not put the lash band on the inner corner at all, which looks weird, because- you have this lash band starting in the middle of the eye lid.
If you try to cover the empty space where there’s no lash band in the inner corner with eye liner, it accentuates the deep set-ness of my eye there and the hooded ness of my lid and deep set lower brow bone. And makes me look, kind of cave-man esc.
It’s not a look.
The next problem I run into, is the lashes are too long for my very short lid - to brow bone space.
A lot of lashes are too dense as well, which doesn’t suit me. And if they’re cruelty free like I prefer, the lash band is often thicker and more plastic like, and the lashes look shiny and unrealistic, thick, plastic. Not the beautiful undetectable natural lash I need.
And the next problem is the length of my eye, from inner to outer corners. It is actually very small, compared to most people’s eyes. So, most lashes don’t fit the length of my tiny eye properly, and thus the curvature of the lash design, just doesn’t measure properly and hit in all the right places it should be, being placed. I end up having to cut off half the lash. And then it looks stupid, and once again, unnatural.
And lastly, the final problem is that my eyes are almond shaped. Majority of lashes are designed to suit the curvature of the “round eyed” eye lid, with a taller brow bone, and lots of lid space. While I would love to have a round eye and I think they’re beautiful. This is what I have, and no lashes are designed for almond eyes (that I know of).
I’ve found that lashes suited for a natural look for monolids are closest to what I’m looking for. But even then, it would be really nice to have a lash brand that is designed for people with, the ‘less common’ eyes.
No amount of finessing works.
So for that reason, as a solution. I am finally doing what I have to do and just, going to use individuals.
I’ve never tried them before but I think I’m going to be very happy with the results, and the application will be much easier for me.
Someone who has a similar eye shape to me, and who gives great advice on individual lash application is Roxette from youtube:
As you can see from the thumbnail, the difference between lash band lashes and individuals, is definitely worth making the switch.
