My visit to The Killing Fields and S-21 was very educational (you could still smell the blood in the wooden cells, and the tour tapes go on about using music to drown out the sounds of beating babies against trees. It was an amazing story).
Pol Pot literally targeted people who were above a certain intelligence, treating it like corruption. It was basically their own doom to kill their doctors and students.

In the wake of the most recent murders of Black people in the US, it is clear that white and other non-Black people have to step up and do the work to eradicate anti-Black racism.
"...because they sure couldn't fix it themselves, now we gotta do it."
Our responsibility starts with our role in society.
I very strongly disagree with this mission statement. It's the people who are detached from said society that are more likely to get work done. Their responsibility starts with ACADEMICS, they aren't social workers.
Our research papers turn into media releases, books and legislation that reinforce anti-Black narratives. In STEM, we create technologies that affect every part of our society and are routinely weaponized against Black people.
Those of us who are not Black, particularly those of us who are white, play a key role in perpetuating systemic racism. Direct actions are needed to stop this injustice. Unless you engage directly with eliminating racism, you are perpetuating it.
Those privileged motherfuckers trying to spread guilt like a god damned disease.
