Despite how much I'd enjoy you liking me, I'd rather you like me instead of some bullshit construct idea of me in your head. If that means that I'm constantly having to deal with you having an odd strawman of me that you otherwise choose to argue with in front of me, I'd rather that strawman be closer to who I really am instead of just an appeaser. 

To me, it's worth the challenge of being liked by you as myself instead of as some liar, and it disappoints me when I see people succeed at what I want by cheating the authenticity system.
