How often do you feel misunderstood?

On topic- I imagine most people feel misunderstood a great deal of the time because effective communication is so hard to master. But communication doesn't just rely on how a message is delivered, it also relies on interpretation, and interpretation is always personal. I saw a quote last night that reminded me of the concept of projection. What you see in others exists inside you.

I won't put that in quotations because I'm paraphrasing I think.

I studied the Toltec belief system several years ago, and it teaches not to take anything anyone says to you personal because everything we say is projection. We can't recognize in others things we don't see in ourselves, basically. People who follow Toltec are to strive not only to stop taking what others say to you personal, but also not to think or say negative things about others or self because it's poisonous and keeps you from truly being 'awake'.

When I think about how projection is basically every word that comes out of your mouth or enters your mind, it's kind of comical. We're all just talking about ourselves to ourselves at other people, and they respond about themselves to themselves at us. So essentially we can only understand ourselves. And yet we can't, because we're too busy trying to make other people understand us while thinking we're trying to help them see themselves.I'm glad I'm not shrooming right now. I think my brain would explode.

You didn't prove anything. I proved you are wrong in the thread from where you quoted yourself. Also, i told you this in the previous post. You are not misunderstood, you are just a retard, why i have to repeat myself for you?

i said i do not care about ana's anything, in this context, are you stupid? Why you bring it up? I do not care if its a false analogy, if its not a false analogy, if its the answer of life, if its a death sentence, if its hate speech, if its friendship and magic, i do not care, its irrelevant, you fucking mongoloid.

"but also not to think or say negative things about others or self because it's poisonous"

lololol

You really shouldn't quote researchable material incorrectly and then go on for pages tryina prove somebody wrong with it, tard.

You're arguing with me about the meanings of words in a language you obviously don't understand.

Any member of our audience who is capable of using Merriam Webster can see you're wrong.

Yet you insist on making a fool of yourself by repeating your mistake over and over and insisting that you're right?

kk Have it your way lol

I'll repost that again if you're so goshdurn proud of it.

Everything is. So if you're thinking negative thoughts about others, you're harming yourself. Because what you think of others is really what you think of yourself, and self loathing is a prison cell. It's an easy concept to reject because the brain wants to believe it sees things as they really are. It wants to believe it sees other people as they really are. That it can't be fooled. To admit to oneself that everything you think and say is projection, you'd have to go to battle with your ego in a way that isn't comfortable. The human brain is lazy. It doesn't want to have to do very much work when receiving and giving information. It cuts corners and fills in blanks with whatever fits.

It's a really cool belief system to explore. You can really push your boundaries with it.

Personally, I've chosen to study Buddhism. I think there's a lot of similarities but with Buddhism I feel you're taught more realistic goals. Toltec seems to reject all of how the human mind works, where Buddhism teaches you not to let your thoughts define or control you.
