Monogamy is an evolutionary trait of mammals. In humans, driving forces are largely genetic, including the production of oxytocin and phenylethylamine in response to pair-bonding signals & urges. However, the frontal lobes are by design capable of overriding certain instincts and impulses. The frontal lobes are also the primary centers of personality, and personality is of course formed by life experience.

I think the ability of the human mind to override instinct amalgamated with how more acceptable it has become culturally to divorce or be polyamorous, has led to a loosening of inhibition, and an acceptance of other impulses. The "serial monogamy" trend has much to do with the availability of partners, as well as the increasing cultural acceptance of it.

Hmm I heard the human brain is getting smaller again because people do not need to be smart to survive anymore. I wonder if it is true...

Lets be serious for a moment. Why does anyone feel lonely sometimes? Part of the conditions of matters, I guess. They cannot see past their basic emotions.

I'm not a monogamous person. From my personal experience, I've always had interests in multiple people at once, and they don't interfere with each other whatsoever. The concept doesn't seem that far reaching to me. 

Well said. Key to that though is respect , trust and honesty. Same for any relationship , really....if you want to call it a relationship. If it is held in place through threat, there is nothing there at all.
