Some Books I like:

Talking With Serial Killers

By Christopher Berry-Dee

An investigative criminologist, Christopher Berry-Dee is a man who talks to serial killers. In this book, their pursuit of horror and violence is described in their own words, transcribed from audio and videotape interviews conducted deep inside some of the toughest prisons in the world. Berry-Dee describes the circumstances of his meetings with some of the world's most evil men, and reproduces their very words as they describe their crimes and discuss their remorse—or lack of it. This work offers a penetrating insight into the workings of the criminal mind.

Journey Into Darkness

By John Douglas and Mark Olshaker

In the #1 "New York Times" bestseller "Mindhunter," John Douglas, who headed the FBI's elite Investigative Support Unit, told the story of his brilliant and terrifying career tracking down some of the most heinous criminals in history. Using behavioral profiling and criminal investigative analysis to get into the head and psyche of both the criminal and victim -- to feel what they felt at the critical moment -- Douglas helped crack many high profile cases, including the Trailside Killer, the Atlanta child murders, and the Tylenol murders. Now, working again with his co-author Mark Olshaker, Douglas delves further into the criminal mind with a series of chilling new cases in "Journey into Darkness": Follow the FBI's premier investigative profiler as he penetrates the minds and motives of the most terrifying serial killers. In "Journey into Darkness," Douglas profiles vicious serial killers, rapists, and child molesters. He is straightforward, blunt, often irreverent, and outspoken, but takes pains not to glorify any of these murderers.

Mr Mercedes

By Stephen King

A cat-and-mouse suspense thriller featuring Bill Hodges, a retired cop who is tormented by 'the Mercedes massacre', a case he never solved. The perpetrator of that notorious crime has sent Hodges a taunting letter. Now he's preparing to kill again. Each starts to close in on the other in a mega-stakes race against time.

 Just looked up Manhattan Transfer.

If you like High Society New York, you would prob like Edith Wharton: Age of Innocence. Surely you know that one?

Claaasic.

"Manhattan Transfer is a novel I was so-so about while reading it, but now I keep thinking about it in its beautiful ability to be relevant outside of itself. Its themes are almost universally applicable, at least I think so.

Heart of Darkness was the last book I had a similar experience with."

My most sincere recommendation, I think (being an admitted bibliophile), would be Dirt Music by an Australian author called Tim Winton. Don't read the synopsis or anything. Don't research it. It sounds dull as all hell when reduced to components (so does a space shuttle, to get metaphorical and weird), but it transfixed me enough to immigrate to another country knowing nothing and no one. Winton has a way of making the mundane so extraordinary. There are no pyrotechnics in a book this well-written. There's no need. (Plus it was nominated for the Booker Prize, so it's not merely an obscure gem in the rough).

I'm going to sound sentimental, but it's one of less than five books and poems that permanently left an impact on me.
