So basically the blank post tracks my ip?
Blank posts as well as ones with content in them.
Fucking hell. Wow. So what can this do? There's an iplogger thing in a post, and to get someone's ip that someone has to click on the post? What if you click reply to a post like that? And can the ip grabber get a username too associated with an ip? Or just a random bunch of ips without knowing to what users they belong? I am completely in the dark with what can be done in this computer realm.
For me it does not ruin the usability, but using tor is slower and has a lot of disadvantages. If others decide they need tor now, some usability would be ruined for them. Also, this whole shit can be speculated and improved now by others than ww3, so fuck knows where this leads to.
I suggest ip log posts which can be identified to be deleted, and anyone who gets caught posting more to be banned in the future.

you guys are crazy... 99.9% of websites track ips. Every single link you click on as you move about the internet is basically giving away your IP to the server your navigating to. it does not ruin the usability of this site that a user posts a link... ip address can be used to find your city, but if stalkers want to get more information from an IP address, they will need to get a warrant from a judge, and serve it to the internet provider, forcing them to hand over records.
the same thing happened when wormboy murdered his grandfather. FBI pulls warrant and demands from us all database information related to wormboy.
that's why it's better for websites who don't want to risk user privacy to simply not hold onto that data... but how to keep out spammers without knowing their ip? thats the million dollar question i think hehe
Luna, can you or your brother fix this shit and not let others grab ips like that? You did promise us privacy when we first moved. You put up ip watch afterwards for the ban/mute thing so they were not protected from you anymore, but now they are not protected from other posters as well. Don't be a little jerk now, a promise is a promise and should stay in place even after relationships have a fall out. Even KF have a policy of not outing other people's ips, Luna...Don't let them be better.
