I think if you want to learn french the fun way would be to listen to songs with both translations.
That's precisely how i learnt English. We had no internet at the time, so it was the sleeves of vinyl albums, mostly Jethro Tull and Frank Zappa.
French i learnt the orthodox way, first as a kid then in secondary school. Unfortunately i forgot most of it (lack of extended real-life exposure), only the grammar / structure stuck long-time, but fairly little of the vocabulaire. But it did help heaps with English at the time, as English is halfway (or more) Latin anyway.
Must post some double-language Jacques Brel clips here, he's my best man to brush up on French.
