I don't think he tried it.
I do see what you mean. It's like if I like chocolate milk and I try to sneak chocolate milk in the milk carton so he will try it. It won't make him want to try it. I'm not sure reverse psychology would work in this case. If I tell him chocolate milk is the worst thing in the world then he would never wanna try it. I'm not that good at convincing people to try things... I usually just end up saying "please try it I promise it's so great and if you don't like it I'll buy you some pop to mask the flavor".
I have friends who tell me they don't want anything for their birthday out of kindness. I buy them a gift I have seen them eyeing in online contests a few months before. I give my friend the gift and she ends up crying in tears of joy. I use my past experiences to understand my current experiences.
