I too view defeat as a learning experience. The best failures are the ones that anger me. I consider them the most transformative.
I've learned over the course of my life to love losing and hate winning. When I lose, there's room to learn something new, the potential for drive, and room to appreciate another's talents. When I win, all it does is show that I am better off than my opponent and, at most, I might gain a story worth telling about it.
My only sore spot is when there's some form of cheating or poor judging in play, whether it's in my favor or their's, as then nothing is learned by either side. It steals the potential from the experience when someone robs us of it.
