Is it not fascinating watching such different social, mental, sexual... types come together and interact?  I can research the latest psychology topic du jour and discuss that at length on a dozen different forums.  Here I can watch those with serious issues, fictional issues, therapy history, therapy experience, and trolls communicate in a cacophony of personal experiences... wouldn't touch it.

I've been thinking, this doesn't really matter to the newer users, but here is a possibility I thought of. Because earlier in this community's life many of the 'quality topics' were discussed at length, maybe a lot of the quality content within said topics no longer warrants much discussion? I mean, take murder for example, I think there were times when some people on this forum were actually sick of talking about it, because others somehow found themselves unable to stop bringing it up. I think to be honest, a similar thing will happen to a lot of the inter-forum drama related topics we see cropping up so frequently nowadays. People will get sick of these topics, to me people like Fiction (and those who share his sentiment) are and the forefront of that coming wave so to speak.

EDIT: I know this post is replying to Cricket but really I feel like this warrants being said in general: If for any reason you don't care for whatever is being discussed here, or maybe you are unlucky enough to be the person that the forum randomly decides to turn on for the week, it's always possible to simply find another forum. And it needn't be a permanent switch mind you, after the topic you don't like dies down, come on back! Or, if you're that unlucky person, make a new account, and then come back. There are tons of forums out there, and to be honest, if you truly wish to discuss those 'quality topics' OP mentioned, there plenty of forums that do a better job of it than this one. I'm sure that people who know their way around a tor browser better than I do could point you in the right direction.

I was never really here for the ASPD. I stuck around once I noticed the counter-culture elements after finding the blog laughably bad. There's other forums that hate their own source material, and they tend to fall into somewhat similar patterns when compared to this place. It becomes much more about the community when the place lacks a central focus, something that makes for a higher potential for drama.

I like drama.

I don't see how that would quell retardation instead of adding to it. If you're doing it out of boredom, just say that. Don't pretend like there's a higher purpose.

You don't get it because you're retarded.

Why reject the drama and the histrionics?

There is always entertainment and education when you look at things the right way.

More decent discussions was a thing in the good old Nabble forum. I was even pointed to a psychopathy research page of some university and provided with a password. However, truth be told, there's not so much for us, regular people not specialized in this field, to discuss about the matter, therefore, most of the graspable things were already covered. I understand that newer members are deprived from such experience, but all I can say is "poor you".

As for what we currently have, this place has indeed turned into a drama scene. I can't complain, though, as I spend most time in pm's anyway. Still, from what I've gathered, one might fair better in the comment section of M.E.'s blog.

M.E. 's blog from what I remember is hilarious. I don't see how people can take her seriously beyond a first impression. Something I said as a comment was posted as it's own article, which in itself is proof that it's crap as far as I'm concerned.

As for ASPD itself, the material is old news. This forum is years old and a lot of the relevant content has been run into the ground. Every so often there'll be new stuff, but the flow of it is slower than people's attention spans on the subject. This forum to me is sociopath in theme as opposed to in practice.

Eventually everyone starts sounding like a broken record.

We need new people then. That's fixed things more than once here.

Fighting boredom is a higher purpose.

I think it would be more constructive to start threads that meet your quality requirements rather than simply point out that they aren't what they used to be.

It's easier to complain than come up with ideas. The forum does have phases it goes through, and during "dry spells" there's always one of these before things pick up again. It's a matter of chance and trends for where things will go, as well as refractory periods that follow when a theme sticks around for too long.
