i think how sociopaths and psychopaths are destructive to society is widely documented. i find it more interesting to see how that kinda disordered mind might be valuable or beneficial in certain circumstances. for example, take the milgram experiment. the main variable to be studied was obedience to an authority figure, something aspd's generally lack. someone with this type of personality would therefore be less likely to conform to whatever social norms others felt pressured by, thereby providing a perspective not skewered by superficial elements.
Hi! I'm a Psychology student completing research for my dissertation titled 'How valuable or destructive are sociopaths and psychopaths to society?'
I'd appreciate it if you could answer the following questionnaire to help towards my research.
Thank you!
So your gauge for socialite value is income, workplace hierarchy and education? While your gauge for destructiveness is criminal record and "thrill-seeking behaviours" (which is for some reason under "Criminal Background") such as smoking lol.
Surly you need more quantitative data rather then this qualitative, subjective nonsense.
Through the use of this questionnaire, I'm exploring the avenues I could potentially go down for the next phase of the project, whilst collecting some basic information. Not to mention trying out effective ways to reach out to my target participants.
I'd just like to say, I'm a college student completing my EPQ. I'm not experienced in collecting data and this project is to help show how I learn and improve whilst researching.
Thank you for the feedback, I'll look into adding more quantitative questions. At the end, I do ask longer, written questions just to get the participant's own opinions to see if there is controversy between differing ones.
If you believe, or others aroud you believe, that you inhibit some of the various qualities in which Hare's Checklist 'diagnoses' sociopaths, then I would love for you to continue!
I do find it interesting that your only sociopath just left haha. Care to share more information about that?
Thank you, this project means a lot to me and any help is much appreciated
Hi! I'm merely a college student and have very little knowledge about how to do that nor am I interested to do so; but I see your concern!
The results of the questionnaire are sent to me to analyse. I am writing a dissertation about my entire research process ano findings along with a presentation for assessment. If you are interested in the results, or concerned about the nature of my work, I'm sure I could send you a copy of the final results and dissertation once I have finished!
Thank you
