What do you guys think about love? Have you ever loved someone? Have a different feeling towards a person?
Both platonic and romantic love start out the same way for me.
They're like sunlight, a gentle warmth that pushes the blahs out of my soul.
The warmth only grows into sexual and romantic love if I allow it (that's probably bc romantic/sexual love is brutally impractical and messy :()
I love love. Really and truly. As far as survival requirements on planet Earth, love is third, imo. It comes right after breath and water.
I can and have starved for it. Living without it is like a cold arthritic day in a damp drafty cellar with a festering wound in my chest.
Hunger is preferable to that feeling, where my family is concerned. I don't allow them to suffer if I can help it.
Romantic love... sigh
I haven't had any of that in a long long time. I guess it's like being mildly drunk in addition to the warm sunny platonic love feeling. And motherfuckin HORNY! I usually fuck like 4 and 6 times/ day when I start a new relationship.
Losing a romantic love is just as painful as mourning friends and family, or worrying for my children in the event of a tragedy. Luckily, the recovery time after a failed romance is much shorter than the cycle of remorse and grieving that happens when tragedy tears down a family bond.
For this reason, if I have to choose, I find it easier to live without a significant other than to try to balance a partner with my family life and my job. I am SOOO cautious about not starting smthg I might not be able to finish. Love is too special and miraculous a thing to do a shitty half-assed job of it.
