Why would I want to be a serial killer?
Well, I could rationalize it and tell you that there are too many dirty, fucking whores out there spreading diseases and I need to clean up the streets, but that wouldn't be true because killing whores isn't the only thing that interests me. Besides, I've considered running a whorehouse myself. It would be a good way to make money and there are plenty of little guttersluts around willing to sell themselves.

That entirely depends on who I target, where I target them and how I kill them.
It's important to consider the possibility of an investigation, what the police and forensics may be looking for that could be traced back to me. Everything that could potentially be witnessed and investigated must be considered before committing the crime.
A successful serial killer has to think like a detective, always remaining consciously aware of their environment and how it could potentially impact any investigation that may follow. All material that may be worn or used during the crime should be carefully considered as it may leave possible evidence behind and anything that leaves a particular pattern (shoes, tires, blood splatter etc). Also the type of weapon being used to commit the crime, what type of marks it leaves on the body, including their positioning, can tell investigators how the crime was committed.
One must also be careful of how the body is disposed of and where, with the weather and environmental conditions taken into consideration. If there is a possibility that the body will eventually be discovered, there are ways to throw off the time of death by speeding up or slowing down the decomposition rate before or during disposal.
On a final note, if you think serial killing will make you famous, then I suggest you stick to fantasy and forget about reality, because most serial killers don't become famous, especially if they don't want to get caught.

I like to read those scenarios. Those scenarios often reveals the killer's personnality! I used to daydream about shooting people. Then it slowly migrated into putting people on fire then lastly, to strangle people from behind with whatever I could find! I think that making scenarios doesn't make you more vulnerable nor prone to get caught. It doesn't mean that because some said psycho on the Internet described the way he/she would kill someone means that X murder is the victim of that said specific psycho. There are millions of people on this earth and that's why lawyers exists.
