For over 10 years, a man has been patrolling Switzerland's wooded areas, dressed in a boiler suit, a camouflaged cloak and a gas mask. Taking the same route he walks through remote and uninhabited areas, never speaking to anyone. The locals are terrified by him, despite him regularly holding a bouquet of flowers in his patrols. He's become a bit of a superstition and is sought after by law enforcement, because of his appearance families refuse to go into the Maules forest. There's been a couple sightings of him, he may stop and look at the people but he never speaks. These are some witnesses accounts:

"He fixed his eyes on me, then turned around and walked off quietly. He – or she, for that matter – was not aggressive. I was with my family, they were frightened and I had to reassure them. Remaining cautious, I snapped a photo with my phone."

"It was a rainy Sunday. He had on a cap, a dark cloak and gas mask. What goes on in his head? I don’t know. It was unpleasant. I hope I never run into him again."

"I came across him near the marches, I approached him up to a dozen metres away. He had a military cape, boots and an army gas mark - an antique type, I think. He measured more than 1.90m. He stared at me then turned his back on me and left in silence."

This is the only photograph ever taken of him.

Recently after these photos were taken a gas mask and a suicide note were found in the forest.

In the note stating "the risk of hunting the beast has become too great" and speaking of various insecurities that were heightened by local media coverage and superstitious folklore of him. I'm not entirely sure what he meant by hunting the beast, if it was a literal statement or some mental issue he was coping with. Either way, I hope he finally got some rest.

I wouldn't doubt it. There's a good amount of media coverage, with more than 10 witness accounts of him. He's just a loner, walking the same route in the woods for over a decade now. I don't think that's too hard to believe.

Wearing a gas mask without need for it doesn't make you cool, it makes you stupid...

"The way you talk about the mask betrays you think it's cool."

I wasn't and don't think I did try to make it sound appealing. The only details I shared about it were that the gas mask was old, antique and worn. I really dont think that justifies as me thinking it's cool though.

"If you want some sincere advice"

Are you inferring I was asking? Otherwise, what motivated you to give it?

"you should find healthier interests than a video game and any crazy story that might possibly be related to said video game."

Sure man. I see a lot of misinformed and misguided anger, take it somewhere else.

I don't think the gas mask he wore was utilized to look cool. I imagine it was more of a psychological statement to himself.

A couple witness descriptions say it was very worn and outdated model, 2 portrayed it as the masks used in WW2. I doubt there were any filters for it to inhibit breathing, but this is what it would looked like.

If the dude exists, he's just an unadapted schizo. If you want some sincere advice, you should find healthier interests than a video game and any crazy story that might possibly be related to said video game.
