First of all, I didn't come here because I believe I'm a sociopath. I don't really need to explain to you as to how/why I came across this forum nor do I want to.

I was asking so I would know what to say next time. You're right, I didn't give a shit about my ex's well-being, and most definitely felt superior to him. But I was interested in maintaining that relationship at that moment. Again, for reasons I don't have to explain. I wanted to know what to say in situations like this though (that is, when I think the other person is screwed up and screwing everything up), or whether to say nothing at all.
