Happiness vs Hypomania

Here, this looks as if it could be sending you in the right direction.

http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/features/inflammatory-dietary-pattern-linked-to-depression-among-women/

November 7, 2013 – Women whose diet includes more foods that trigger inflammation—like sugar-sweetened or diet soft drinks, refined grains, red meat, and margarine—and fewer foods that restrain inflammation—like wine, coffee, olive oil, and green leafy and yellow vegetables—have up to a 41% greater risk of being diagnosed with depression than those who eat mostly the less inflammatory diet, according to a new study by researchers at Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH).

I used to take choline supplements. Why did I ever stop.

I don't know. Why did you? I've eaten choline at least 3 times today on separate occasions.

Fact is, a build up choline in the brain says nothing about choline being a cause of depression. It merely points out that something to do with acetyl-choline, or something along those lines is failing, and all the choline that's being sent up to your brain for use, is just sitting around with nothing to do while the process in front of it takes way too long. I don't know all the details.

A lack of choline in the diet, however, is linked to anxiety.

http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/90/4/1056.full

The lowest choline quintile was significantly associated with high anxiety levels (odds ratio: 1.33; 95% CI: 1.06, 1.69) in the fully adjusted (age group, sex, time since last meal, educational level, and smoking habits) logistic regression model. Also, the trend test in the anxiety model was significant (P = 0.007). In the equivalent fully adjusted linear regression model, a significant inverse association was found between choline quintiles and anxiety levels (standardized regression coefficient = −0.027, P = 0.045). We found no significant associations in the corresponding analyses of the relation between plasma choline and depression symptoms.

So now we know the yin and yang of the central nervous system. Anxiety, when the engine is running dry, and when there is too much lube in the engine, it starts to slow down and bog up.

Happiness vs Hypomania

You can think of most recreational drugs as accelerants. The first time you smoke weed, you typically get "high", and the more times you repeat it, the more you begin to find yourself stoned. Sure, there are different strains and so on, whatever, but typically you can think of them as accelerants, so you have to be extra careful to ensure you are getting even more nutrition than you originally thought you needed. Your craving for food after getting stoned, is a clear signal your body is sending you, that it needs more nutrition. The big question is, why do chronics tend to be skinnier than the rest of the population? Are they just spending all thier money on weed and forgetting about food? No way... they are constantly accelerating their metabolism in distinct ways that require more food energy. If you fail to keep nutrition and exercise up, or if you decide to accelerate yourself with too much marijuana, or stuff that is too strong, or loaded with the wrong chemicals, you will begin to burn out.

"We hypothesized that chronic cannabis smoking would result in hepatic-fat accumulation, leading to insulin resistance or evidence of a prediabetic state," Dr. Skarulis said. "Nevertheless, the take-home message from our findings is that mild metabolic derangement occurs in young people who smoke a lot of cannabis. They had a tendency to have proportionally more intra-abdominal fat than subcutaneous fat."

I do not understand the significance between intra-abdominal deposits versus subcutaneous fat deposits and how it may relate to depression.

Choline is fat deposit and I think it is probably a subcutaneous fat. If that is true. Then yes. Eat more choline or face burn out (paranoia is my guess as it is a type of anxiety disorder).

My guess is that it has everything to do with Terpenes.

Happiness vs Hypomania

If I cure the depression side of this, that would be amazing. I could personally life with hypomania, but would be afraid of mania ever re-ocurring again. I might have truly only experienced it once. It was the day or so after I got in a fight with my dad.

As soon as he came back to the house to get some stuff outside I started getting really pumped, just in case we were to fight again, but eventually I started to get extremely angry and time just felt like it was flying so fast, like my vision made everything have tracers to an extent. I think that might of been my first psychotic type episode, but I don't want to jump to conclusions or anything.

But basically your saying I should have choline in my diet. Also how does weed effect changes in mood, in terms of hypomania and depression anyways?

Well i try to eat healthy but I don't like the ideal of spending al my time cooking. But I might give it a shot. I recently ordered a sweater from macy's online and it came with this $40 dollar card which lets you create recipes online and the ingredients will be mailed to you.

Eat some eggs.

Technically yes. I am bipolar, however, it has turned a little for the worse over the last 6 months and become epileptic. There is something wrong with me and I seem to be getting better, and I hope it stays that way. I am fairly stable in term of moods and energy levels comparatively, though, so, a little step forward and a tiny step back. The only manic issue I seem to be able to identify is these long periods of uncontrolled laughter. I go on for hours till my head throbs. Maniacal laughing. Plus sometimes lethargy hits me fast almost like a narcoleptic. They are fairly rare occurrences. The epileptic activity is my main concern at the moment.

So, are you bipolar or just a really healthy person?

Basically a terpene is a type of solvent, or you can consider it, the fluid that makes tar run. Marijuana is loaded with terpenes. The word comes from the chemical turpentine, which through the ages has been extracted from trees, and sold a product to thin paint, remove gum from sidewalks, and so on.

Sticky, resinous marijuana or oils, they will have high terpene content. Without terpenes, the resin or tar, would be solid as a rock.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terpene

A range of terpenes have been identified as high-value chemicals in food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.[11][12] Chemical synthesis of terpenes can be problematic because of their complex structure, and plants produce very small amounts of these valuable chemicals, making it difficult, time consuming and expensive to extract them directly from plants. Scientists are working to identify the key enzymes and pathways that produce terpenes in plants. In 2014, researchers at the John Innes Centre[13] searched the genomes of 17 plant species to find the genes that encode terpenoid synthase enzymes that give terpenes their basic structure, and cytochrome P450s that modify this basic structure.[14] Once genes have been identified for the synthesis pathway of a specific terpene, synthetic biology techniques could be used to make high levels of this terpene, using plants or microorganisms (e.g. yeast) as “factories”. This could mean cheaper and more sustainable production of economically and medicinally important terpenes. For example, the effective anti-malarial terpene artemesinin, from the plant Artemisia annua, can now be produced in yeast.[15]

Without knowing for sure, I cannot say the same about hash, which is a dryer product composed mostly of the resin itself.

You know that sharp smell that sometimes comes off of marijuana? I find that to be the best medicinal marijuana there is for my condition, however, I am also aware of the potential to go paranoid, or psychotic, or whatever, so I also supplement with nutritional products to keep things in balance. I also rotate on, and off any specific regime so my body flexes to meet various different patterns of nutrition, rather than it growing too accustomed to a single way. Time to heal in any areas that are running thin, and time to exercise areas which may not be in use that much.
