When you phrase it like that, it makes me think of those people who trap Sims into small rooms and kill them when bored:

I wouldn't want to kill them straight away though. I'd wanna trap them in a small room and torture them psychologically. Put certain things in the room with them and force them to make certain choices.

Self-preservation is a beautiful thing. What people are prepared to do for it would be an interesting study.
