by Sacha"There are three types of people in this world: sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs. Some people prefer to believe that evil doesn't exist in the world and if it ever darkened their doorstep, they wouldn't know how to protect themselves. Those are the sheep. Then you've got predators, who use violence to prey on the weak. They're the wolves. And then there are those blessed with the gift of aggression, an overpowering need to protect the flock. These men are the rare breed who live to confront the wolf. They are the sheepdog. …You know who you are. You know your purpose."
I am a cat. I lurk in the shadows, or bathe in the sun, as the mood takes me. I watch wolves eating sheep and dogs herding them.
Sometimes, I like to chase mice.
"It looks to me like your father needs you and doesn't want to admit it" -- You're right about this. He totally does. Nevertheless, I haven't talked to him in more than a month. He got the message and never came back, which is good.
"Maybe you could suggest some gvt. funded alternative for him, to allow him to get back on his feet without wrecking your life in the process. Homeless shelter? Work for welfare program? A short bus to an unskilled labour position at Goodwill Industries or smthg?"
Hmmm...well, we don't have those government subvesions and welfare programs in SA. Even if we did, he wouldn't need them.
