The lake I'm thinking of is a beach. No sea creatures to worry about either. I bet it's been overrun and overdeveloped by now anyways. Haven't been there for at least 5 years.

One of those enclaves, where the steam rolls off the lake in the morning in abundance. You can walk out for hundred of meters up to your waist. Seems tropical, but it's up north.

It's gorgeous land.

You want to dress up in shells and sell trinkets to the tourists?

We'll keep a plane ticket stashed in some safety deposit box with fresh socks and clean shirts for when we need to make a quick return to our native lands.

I get to hold on the key to deposit box.

smacks forehead

Before the season of the hellish beasts were to strike..that would be fun.

After the blood thirsty bastard strike, haul ass to Tropical Beach.

Best of both worlds.

Oh yeah, we can start a makeshift animal shelter outside our bamboo cabana.

You are however prohibited from stepping inside anyones vehicles without me getting in first.

You are free with me, but you can never leave my line of sight. Not without a knife in your pocket.

about 10? we found some goodies too but for the most part an abundance of lame big cat avatars with the personality of dead cats, and a group of people playing a never-ending game of 'spot the uninteresting and irrelevant fact/prove uninteresting and irrelevant fact to be false'

 What else is left? Trolling or...?

The "or" is more dull.

Back to the winds and clouds for me it is!!!

Overpopulation;

too much art and interactive media flooding their brains since infancy (anime and video games fetishises a lot of things and most kids even in western societies develop feeling and sexual arousal towards characters. Japanese characters are made to be seen as "real people);

they're perfectionists. been a problem since their middle ages. they are easily disgusted by normal things;

they're too intellectual and repress emotion too often. they're flooded with ideas, concepts, limits, requirements, goals, etc., since birth. They never get to just relax and enjoy their nature and bodies in a natural way;

and so on and on... It's not a single cause, I doubt it.

Overpopulation isn't an issue. They have a great economy that can sustain a large number of people. Their population is declining a lot and it's going to be a problem soon. The government is taking a lot of measures to encourage couples to have kids.

Not sure about perfectionists disgusted by normal things. Perfectionism is a stereotype.

Not sure about them "repressing" emotions either. They don't feel less than other people, they just learn to show/display less emotion from a young age. That doesn't make them repressed though.

Also I've seen many Japanese relaxing and enjoying nature. They have an entire philosophy based around that. Just sitting down at a picnic admiring the cherry blossoms, art, gardening, practicing relaxation techniques, etc. They have respect for mealtimes, you don't see Japanese walking on the streets and eating in a hurry.

It's not crowd control. It's their culture.

The Japanese have always been subtle and valued social stature as well as reputation. The pressure to be honorable is very heavy(or was) on the everyday citizen. Being naturally composed from the remnants of Bushido and their feudal period the average native Japanese person is very much reserved. What you're witnessing is the scraps of their heritage condemning social and sexual behaviors. It's no secret Asian countries have the highest amount of internet activity per person by an exponential amount. They do online what they cannot do in person, leading to an entire generation completely devoid of social skills as well as the will to gain them. They've become sedative, weak, a former shell of Japan's warlike past. It's a shame, I feel bad for their ancestor's as they were some of the fiercest fighters throughout history until these latest generations.

This effect is the only aspect of technology I truly fear. It's not worth it.

The Japanese adapted. One of the point of civilization is avoiding war, so Japanese not being mighty warriors these days isn't smth to condemn. You'd have to be very naive and ignorant to wish for wars in my opinion. Today warfare is economy, technology, and the Japs are doing great at that. They proved their strength by recovering fast and effectively after major disasters. The last one was just a few years ago.

That's the end of the human race as we know it. It's bad enough the obesity rate is soaring, I can't count 5 people before Isee a fat one. I'm literally watching the Human Genome just fall apart in front of my eyes.I'll get a shack somewhere in the woods if this shit explodes to America.

What is the end? Bad eyesight? They are improving technology to be more eye friendly lately.

The US especially has indeed an obesity problem. I think people are becoming more aware of it though, in all civilized countries.
