Should users have the option to completely wipe their account, and all their postings?

I'm against it.

I don't believe anyone should be able to delete their account.

Not only would that make hijacking accounts more of a potential concern, I don't see a good enough reason for it.

Wiping the slate clean, so to speak, so that they can come back here and pretend to be 'new' is not a good enough reason.

Also, if anyone has such an issue that they feel the need to have their account/entire post history deleted for personal reasons (got their feelings hurt etc), then they probably shouldn't have been posting here in the first place.

I want a system that shows who liked a users post.

I don't actually.

1) This place would become that much closer to Facebook.

2) Thumbs Up/Down serves as  a system of instigation, and having no name attached I actually enjoy for that reason. With names attached that goes away, and revealing it was you who liked the post is as easy as making a comment anyway.

3) The anonymous factor allows lurkers to play along too in a means they find comfortable. With a name attached that means they have to become involved.

The only real flaw with keeping it anonymous is puppet votes, but if it was really that big a deal users could just screencap their vote or just type it.

I think it should be easier to sort through view your old posts or others' posts than just using the current search feature.

It would be very unethical to erase the past for the sake of someone's vanity, especially if the past was their own.

I'm neither proud, or ashamed of my ramblings in this realm.

I'm certainly amused though.

The vastness of truth's variety has always amused me.
