"Without Batman, crime has no punchline." - Joker, Batman the Animated Series

Yeah I totally see that. Maybe that's why Keaton didn't make it to the second one, and oh so serious mr bale made it to the others ones? I haven't seen all the batmans, so I don't know.

Pretty sure what makes you appear narcissistic in nature to me is just how prone you are to using I's. A fairly small change in language would mask it somewhat.

u cant categorize people with neat little boxes like that they r all man made any how

there is a some npd and some aspd in all of us

whats the difference between a psychopath and a malignant narcissist ?

when u have found out the difference in theory do u think u can straight away spot the difference in practice ?

from the same article in Psychology today:

"Extraverts can be very hard to distinguish from narcissists."

I know that i can appear to be narcissistic in nature. I am extraverted and have some manic episodes which make me very arrogant sounding.

Bernie Maddoff is a sociopath. He does not care if his financial schemes hurt a poor person in a nursing home. From what I have read, all sociopaths are narcissists.  Not all narcissists are sociopaths.

He definitely did it for the money and all the benefits derived from it, not for the thrill. Maybe he thought he had enough authority and power to screw society with his tricks.

Haha, although he's not 100% remorseless, look:

"In an interview with CNNMoney in May, the 75-year-old fraudster said that he had a job making $40 a month wiping down phones and computers for a "few hours a day." He believes he's well-respected by his fellow prisoners and said he spends much of his time reading newspapers and novels.

He wakes up early -- 4:30 a.m. -- not because he has to, but because he can't sleep. He is haunted, he said, by the suicide of his oldest son Mark, who hanged himself on Dec. 11, 2010 -- the second anniversary of his father's arrest".

"I was responsible for my son Mark's death and that's very, very difficult," he said. "I live with that."

I wonder if it's because of the financial scheme or if it's because he feels responsible for his son's death.

"Living up to the Bernie family image. It's everything to some people. Especially narcissists".

Haha, I'd say most people. Unfortunately, those are society's core values. Narcissism is very common these days...

Debatable. Was he filling his empty ego trying to live upto his son? Living up to the Bernie family image. It's everything to some people. Especially narcissists.

In which case, yeah, those fuckin gangsters know how to punch hard and hang em high.

"The NPD commits crime to heal their hurt ego. The ASPD commits crime for the thrill".

And what if it's about greed??? For example, Bernard Madoff. He obviously did it for the money. If that was the case, I'd say he's a narc. What do you think about this man???

I don't know. Probably neither. I don't know what motivated him, how long he did what he did, whether it was a one time thing that escalated out of proportion, if they had any history of conduct disorder, or whether they had a fragile ego (which I doubt).

He seems like the kind of guy that really broke a tremendous amount of sweat over what he was doing as well. So, I imagine he carried significant burden in the form of guilt. Whether that is relevant to an ASPD diagnosis or not, yes it is, but to the NPD diagnosis, no, it doesn't seem to be a requirement.

The worst thing about narcs are their inherent insecurities. So if you are someone who is naturally confident, these narcs will plague you your entire life.

Typically what you want to do in order to flush them out, is to drop things like, "I am not a professional or expert", or "I am unsure". You know, as if professionals are wasting thier free time corralling customers through anonymous venues, right?

They will pounce on any hint of insecurity as they have no means to discover the accuracy or validity of something indeendently from thier gut reactions. Now this isn't always what will define an NPD. However it's one of the first lures, then they keep coming and they never let up once you give a few nice shots to thier ego.

Typically it is called "trolling" in the mass narcissistic world of the internet these days, but way back when it was considered part of an "initiation" to a higher level of thinking and consciousness. Now it's just hell everywhere.

Personally I think they've been beaten or belittled to the point of have ZERO self esteem, in many cases, and they repeat the pattern of attacking others with perceived weakness where they envy the projected strength.

You know, the sterotypical pattern of learned behavior.
