How to Rid the west of Bottled Water

We only have 100 years on this planet, and not many of us intend to waste 5 min once a week on something that we can spend 5 dollars a week on, and forget about.

Bottled Water isn't sold because it tastes good, it sells because of convenience. If Earth-lovers want to save this planet, then give the lazy Humans a convenient solution instead of telling them they are lazy, and that they should change.

Teach them how they can save money and time with this new refrigerator, and watch Humanity flock to buy it.

By new Refrigerator, I mean someone should invent a new refrigerator that auto bottles water for you

My grandmother had a fridge that made ice water back in the 70s. The water came from a compartment in the freezer where she dumped 3 or 4 trays of ice every day. The contraption was stupidly expensive.

A good number of people who drink bottled water don't do so bc it's any more convenient than tap water. They do so bc their tap water tastes like crap or bc their tap water has too many chemicals in it. They're drinking imported water bc they think it's healthier than what comes out of their taps.

Good luck finding a way to import water through a fridge.

Unless you're talking about a water filter, but Brita's already done those to death in handy little $25 jugs. You'd be catering to some very hoity toity people if you're trying to convince them that a fridge with water filtration is somehow better than a jug with a water filter.

:) Yes.

When I preface a statement with "they think" I'm usually outlining a flawed assertion concocted by somebody else. My point was that the existing "cleaner water" paradigm is based on a flawed premise, and replacing it with yet another flawed premise is unlikely to get people to spend even more money on a slightly different overreaction.

I drink bottled water bc the water where I am is hard as fuck and it tastes like crap. I drink tap water when I live where the water has a decent taste.

Luna's business plan doesn't appeal to me. Now give me a fridge with a built-in ice cream and fro-yo maker and I might be persuaded to spend an extra $100 over the usual cost of that particular model (provided all parts are covered under a 5 year warranty.)

Bottled water is probably worse.

You ever drink from a plastic water bottle after it's sat in the sun for a while? Taste the plastic, recycled trash, chemicals and carcinogens inside of it? I predict it'll be linked to numerous cases of cancer in the future.

Same thing's been discussed related to those who freeze water inside the bottles. As the water thaws it's the same story.

"They're drinking imported water bc they think it's healthier than what comes out of their taps."

Penn and Teller had an episode of Bullshit talking about this:

You are absolutely right... the system is entirely flawed. We don't need to use certain things anymore, but we as a whole people, conspire to keep things in the past.

Planned obsolescence is one of those tactics used most often.

Another is government job creation.  (I know very little about it.)

Another is something I don't have the words to explain. Whatever one would call keeping bank tellers in the numbers they exist inside the banks. Unions, but not really unions.

Yeah... a lack of potable water is actually a big problem for a lot of places. It's so much nicer having the luxury of picking what manner of potable water I drink, as the crap that goes on in places without access to it is ridiculous.

World Health taught by a former doctor that succumbed to depression from traveling to such places in his youth made for a very interesting set of lessons. He was the king of deadpan pessimism and hopelessness, so naturally he and I got along swimmingly.

Some people do buy bottled water because their own tap water isn't adequate.
