Thrills, are you genuine or fake post. Is what got me thinking.

Also why would someone want to be a sociopath?  This question is in regards to Thrills wannabe comment. I'm also perplexed as to why some of you consider it a insult to be called a narcissist in the forum. Is aspd somehow superior to all other disorders?

I personally wouldn't want to find out I was a sociopath (aspd). I know I'm different than others in some aspects of thinking. I do know that I am not a sociopath.

I apologize for all the questions,  I'm just curious.

I did miss it, sadly.  But I saw all the leftover bunnies, when I got back.  What the hell happened?

I have always thought this is a forum for sociophiles.

But it is!  Why else would we be here?

I came back after several years hiatus, only to find that 4D (a forum specializing in all personality disorders) had vanished from the face of the earth.

I take it you missed the torching of it, then?  Was quite fun, bunnies & all.  (Shame though it's gone, just when I upgraded to 5 'senior accounts'.)

This is a forum for sociopaths?

I must apologize most sincerely then, as I have always thought this is a forum for sociophiles.

Perhaps the medications I have been taking/avoiding/overindulging in/feeding to my neighbours, have clouded my thinking.

I shall avoid any contact with this foul cesspool of ungratified and belligerent love birds from now on.

Just watch me change my habits.

That being said, I'm most likely psychopathic.  That's easily debatable, though.  Not because of any uncertainty of who I am, only an uncertainty of the exact criteria, as it pertains to me.  Either way, I have little interest in finding out for sure.  The label can be convenient, I'll say that.  It's easier to type or say "psychopathy" than "extremely minimal empathy towards humans and guilt regarding transgressions against them".

As for socio/psychopaths not being able to know what they are, I think that's bullshit.  I see no reason that they/we can't be just as self-aware as anyone else.  More so even, I'd imagine.  However, you're right about one thing.  I don't think there's anything wrong with me. : P

WOW, Crow! You are always spot on. I think I'm a psychopath but I finally decided to get a fucking diagnosis already. I took some tests at the Wright Institute and they are now in the process of "evaluating." Unfortunately, they slavishly follow the names in the DSM which means I would be called an "antisocial personality." Where is Robert Hare when we need him? :) Why do I come here? To pass time in a more interesting fashion than I might otherwise do. BTW, can anyone explain what happened that this forum was separated from M.E.'s blog?

So do I. :) I am not a racist. I have nothing against most races.

My question is. Why would a sociopath join a forum looking for validation that they are in fact sociopaths?

Some join for validation, that right there always tells me they couldn't be that label. A sociopath wouldn't look for validation, they are who they are.

I don't believe a sociopath would join a sociopath forum. Just for the fact that they would have nothing to gain by doing so. Most if not all sociopaths do not consider themselves to be sociopaths.  In there eyes, there is nothing wrong with them.

That's not necessarily true. As Luna said, conversing with likeminded individuals (sociopath or not) can be beneficial in more ways than one with many different types of people. Sociopaths would be no different.

I think most of them don't consider themselves a sociopath because they don't know they are one. Usually they don't care enough to take the time to self analyze themselves because you're right, they don't think anything is wrong with them. It is just a label of many different factors and personality traits wrapped into a package.

Also why would someone want to be a sociopath?

Hollywood cranked it up to a "bad ass" image.

I'm also perplexed as to why some of you consider it a insult to be called a narcissist in the forum.

Usually the way people use the word narcissist use it in a derogatory way towards someone who is full of themselves, brags too much, and continuously tries to garner the attention of a conversation. Can you see how that would piss some off? The ones who get hurt by it have the fragile egos and don't like it when called out.

Is aspd somehow superior to all other disorders?

Some would say so.
