It's worth catching both of them to compare. They are two films based on the same book with different scripts.
He had less screen time than Hopkins, but the time he had was more believable than the almost Shakespearian approach we see in Silence.
I will. I know Silence is sort of a must-see.
If you want a true Shakespearean story-line, try In Bruges
And you make this assumption based off my Avatar. It's a shame you make an unwise summation of me, the ignorance as I'm not the only one to "idolize" this character. You're better than this...
Your last two lines are interesting and there is, I hope, an educated discussion to be had therein and no petty ad hominem.
by StayonhereMads. It makes more sense to me because he is better looking and more sexually appealing. If you do by the classic definition of a sociopath being charming and bisexual.
Charming and manipulative perhaps, but being a sociopath doesn't make you more likely to be good looking. Everyone imagines the average socio/psychopath to be sexy physically, but that's simply not the case.
Anthony Hopkins Hannibal used manipulative tactics to get inside people's heads and charm to get around people. He didn't need a handsome face. But obviously they need to compete with Dexter now and slap in a sexy actor, which is annoying.
It takes away from the manipulator because he/she will be respected more like good looking people are.
