Stephen Fry, the brit comedy guy

 Stephen Fry is NOT a comedy guy. He does comedy too, but predominantly an actor, writer, and general polymath. 

Robin Williams hasn't only played in comedy movies either.

And you missed the point. Both were very gifted actors, memorable for their comedy roles, yet both troubled and struggling with various personal issues.

Where did i say that R. Williams was a comedy guy?  Haven't seen any of his work until 3 days ago when i watched one of his films (Good Will Hunting) - he was a damn fine good actor indeed, and that wasn't even a comedy role.  And undoubtedly a very fine man too. 

As for Fry - he can be a brilliant comedian as well but it's not his comedy roles what make him memorable. And he's not exactly the troubled struggling sort.

The best comedians are living life as others would see a tragedy.

That's what makes people funny. Their pain.

Listen to the monkeys as they watch a death match fight amongst them. The worries and the shrills are the first step in a very short chain of evolution.

Listen to those silly monkeys laugh. That's how you sound. It's a tragedy.
