Multiple Intelligences

For me anyway, my instincts and gut feelings are unreliable, so I sort of had to get into body language and micro-expressions to confirm theories. If I went on feeling alone I'd be living in a very different world.

I found that theater and motion-based arts (martial arts, ballet, dancing, etc) were good for training awareness and sharpening focus. Before learning to mimic motions and imitate gestures, you have to notice what you're mimicking and imitating in the first place. Once the eyes are sharpened, micro-expressions and body language can seem more natural.

I don't think intelligence is the same thing as success, although it is something that certainly proves useful toward achieving it. Success is meeting a goal, but goals and their attainment have much to do with circumstance & chance, as well as what we set as an end, and how invested we are in that. At a certain point, IQ actually begins to become negatively related to socioeconomic success. For more reference, see this article.

I certainly believe there are different domains of cognition, given we know just how variable the brain is in the development of its anatomy & function from person to person. IQ tests exclude several domains of ability. Social intelligence is the easiest example of this. Does "social intelligence", "musical intelligence", etc. actually represent forms of intelligence?

My opinion is no, they do not. If intelligence is supposed to be our ability to reason deductively and inductively, "social intelligence" is simply consciously applying the rules of logic to the social realm to understand how it works; the same idea applies to "musical intelligence." All the forms of intelligence that are part of that theory can be developed by effort and interest. Talent & capacity for originality for one thing or another will always exist, but they have more to do with what our personalities bring to the table than reasoning ability.

On the topic of sociopathy & intelligence, most studies that include IQ find no correlation, and not one study has found a significant correlation.
