He clearly couldn't tolerate abandonment. That's where I was getting at. He was attached and they abandoned him, and he quite literally cracked after that and went on a killing spree. Typical "I hate you don't leave me" borderline anger.
I'm sure i read, that the girl and him got back together, only for him to break up with her. If he couldn't tolerate abandonment, i don't see why he would do that.
It seems more like an attempt to save his own narcissistic views and get revenge for her rejection.
The killings targeting women is clearly some manifestation of his views towards women, perhaps a hatred of the power women had over men and a view that they used sex as a tool. This would perhaps explain his modus operandi. However, the women he chose did not fit any set criteria, age or appearance wise.
All of this is speculative. The only person who knew, got publicly executed.
Of all the serial killers I've known, Bundy is the one I relate to most. His childhood is very similar to mine, in that I am jealous of my mother's boyfriends, I love/hate her. I'm considered by some to be eccentric, and funny, he was isolated, I have very diverse social circles.
