I would run down the stairs in an attempt (however vain) to signal the trolley to stop. Seems better than getting blood on my own hands with the stigma and the potential legal issues that carries. And if I can stop the trolley, I'm a hero. If I can't, "I did what I could."

I don't think you can reduce it to arithmetics.

I think you both missed the original question.  Which was whether to kill 5 fat-apologists and spare a fat one, or sacrifice a fat one to save the five fat-acceptance activists.

I would save fatty and kill the 5 fat-apologists.  IMO generally there's nothing inherently bad about being fat (I know several awesomely brilliant fat people), but being an activist for any kind of PC-bullshit ideology is indeed bad news.

steady the fat one over the ledge, okay now let the train pass over(squishy squish kill?) the people and push the fat man ONTO the train. 

maybe the people inside the train die too <3
