I think that sums it up for me nicely also.

I have people that I know I can trust and rely on. I have people that can keep me company and entertain me. I have people I can confide in when needed. I'm "friendly" with many people. But I don't like the word "friends". It implies something abstract and ephemeral. Something so moldable and manipulable... It's quite cynical to look at the world the way I do. But it's accurate... I have people to use when I need to use them, people that equally exploit me when needed. I suppose if you consider that a friend... then I have plenty.

I have tons of acquaintances, but no real friends- though it might come as a surprise to some who think they know me, but really don't.

Solid friendships would require time, energy and a level of commitment that I am unwilling to invest. What can I say? I'm a bit antisocial. :P
