Well look at is this way, at least you avoid doing horrible things. Either you care for people or at least for yourself. Which one do you think it is?

Well, if I could press a button that would kill every psychiatrist in the world, I would. I believe they fucked me up and they fuck other people up every day.

Give me examples.
IMO conscience is a mechanism that is supposed to bias your decision torwards the interest of society by punishing you with bad feelings or
rewarding you with good ones. Making decisions without bias doesn't mean that you can't act in favor of the group.
Example: Not all people without conscience are killers or criminals because they might be able to pursue their goals without breaking the law (e.g. stereotypical sociopathic manager). But psychopathic criminals commit more reckless crimes because when they decided to commit the crime they follow through with it. There's no conscience that could interfere.
You can harm others with or without conscience and afterwards you can acknowledge it as a mistake with or without conscience. The question is: Was some kind of conscience part of your thought processes or not.
