Pessimism Vs. Optomism

perhaps they might not "like" to...but get them in a group situation , and anything is possible with the right stimulii. Adversity or perceived adversity can make even the nice as pie folk resort to things not normally undertaken, which some folk might see as 'evil".

Exception rather than the rule? ...perhaps, but the potential for violence and 'evil" ..is but a whisper away. I think your optimism is commendable ...but your naiievity, somewhat blind. Remember...even a killer can be an optomist ....and a saint a pessimist.

Cynicism?...or observation?..you choose.

This is why we need to create a sociiety where noone is forced to harm others out of neccessity. Then we can differiante them from the people who simply cant ignore their impluse, and we can put them in jail, and stop them from reproduction, and wala! :)

I also agree with preventing the disagreeable elements of a society from reproducing. Though in this case I'm not sure if its a genetic issue or one that is caused through childhood.

Neither pessimism nor optimisim are always the correct choice...

Sometimes being overly optimistic leads to making poor descisions... (be as optimistic as you want, but jumping out of a plane and being confident that you'll be fine, probably won't end well) and sometimes pessimism leads to self fulfilling prophesies...

Balance in all things...

How do you propose we create a system where people do not harm out of necessity?  Inherent in that idea is that society must harm the success of one to assist another.

We cannot determine the value of "necessity" or the value of "wealth".  I would argue that an artist does not value wealth as much as a business man, so taking from the business man to give to the artist actually does harm to society.

This topic reminds me of

"Abundance Mentality" vs. "Scarcity Mentality"

One is about investing in community relations so "what comes around goes around" and everyone benefits.

One is about competing to beat someone else down or win at expense of others, out of fear you can't both win.

I believe in win-win situations. What do you believe? What is your approach in life and in relations with others?
