I'm already semi converted though.
I just forgot the name of the church, where it was situated, or what its dogma was.
Wait a second, I think I remember now.
Life is my temple, birth its foundation and death its demise.
The amount of possible factors for these conditions makes knowing what causes this impossible with any certainty. Every person's individual factors are unique in their prevalence and severity; how they are is fundamently linked to the question, and there's no sense in extrapolating conclusions.
I think it's impossible for what is unconscious and inanimate to have done this.
Never in our history, as well as in the future will we randomly toss a pile of any material, and end up with a Mac book pro, or anything with functionality or design, for accident. Never.
The trees take in what we put out, and vice versa. They need life to support them as well. To me it's ridiculous to assume and sad to buy an idea suggesting an unconscious force connected the dots, and "evolved" eyes into our heads, because light exists, in this atmosphere where this gas we breath is conveniently invisible. One can only admit it's difficult to think of much more that's invisible like the air and all that goes with it. Same goes with the ears and the existence of sound.
All kinds of fragrances and odors exist, how and even why for that matter would an unconscious force evolve us to be able to detect that too.
When Hawking changed his mind about black hole theory, they were furious, but who are they to argue when it's him who leads black hole theory.
In my opinion, the scientist who believes in a creator is prone to being a great pioneer in their field. Not because they believe in God, but because they won't be afraid to work with anything that kinda hints what science thinks they know is bullshit. And that right there makes for the highest form of science.
Evil synonyms:wicked, bad, wrong, immoral, sinful, foul, vile, dishonorable, corrupt, iniquitous, depraved, reprobate, villainous, nefarious, vicious, malicious; malevolent, sinister, demonic, devilish, diabolical, fiendish, dark; monstrous, shocking, despicable, atrocious, heinous, odious, contemptible, horrible, execrable; informal lowdown, dirty "an evil deed"
By that definition, I could most likely find a way to describe nearly any act of will as evil, whether directly (confining a person and depriving him of his will is harmful to that person, therefore putting criminals in prison is evil) or indirectly through "butterfly effect" thought (convincing a woman to leave her abusive husband snapped his mind and he went to work and shot 3 people) so I'm not sure about the logic of using "causes harm" as evil.
Perhaps "intent to cause harm" might work better. And even then, that would be your opinion. It's probably an opinion you share with the majority. Though you might not always agree on the definition of 'harm,' or the definition of 'intent' for that matter.
by Spatial MindUnlike beauty, Evil is not an opinion.
How can evil not simply be an opinion?
Evil is subjective. Just because you believe in it, that doesn't mean it exists. Well, in your mind it might exist, but it doesn't in mine.
I don't see anything as evil. As far as I'm concerned, evil exists only in fairy tales along with monsters and god.
