Reacting to death and other disasters

Funerals/death, blech… they all make me feel sad. It's so finite, over forever. A total loss for those left behind and a reminder that nothing lasts long.

We had a spaz in my high school form. He was the type of person I dislike,  proper spoilt little fucking wheel chair bound spaz brat who had everything done for him because of his retardation. He thought he could get away with anything and say what he wanted to, probably because he was used to people bowing down to his every command.

One day the assistant head came in our place to tell us the sad news lol, that our special little friend was now no longer with us...well,  I burst out laughing and couldn't stop. The lad sitting opposite was now doing the same and every time I looked at him I got worse.

My muay thai teacher/friend died

A very close family member of mine and best friend in childhood died

But after the initial sadness, its forgotten about.

I agree with the post saying many people think they experience inappropriate amounts of grief. When a (cute and furry) pet dies, I mope for a day or so. A close relative died several months ago and I felt more irritated at the funeral and burial process than anything. Death happens, nothing special about it

When my father died from suicide I was too young to care.

When my grandmother died of a heart attack, I didn't care.

When a lady I knew died of cancer, I didn't care.

When a friend of mine died from a drug-related illness, I didn't care.

When my pets died, I didn't care, especially since I'm the one that killed them.

Though, I didn't kill all of them. Other things killed some of my other pets:

  • I had a pet bird that died in a storm one night.
  • I had some fish that died because the other fish I had in the tank ate them.
  • I had a kitten that got run over by a car.
  • I had a cat that died from a paralysis tick.
  • I had birds that died from being left in the sun for hours without any water.
  • I had a dog that got hit by a car.
  • I had a pet calf that got bit by a snake.
  • I had pet mice that died from being left in a car on a hot day.
  • I had some baby birds I found in a nest that ended up dying of starvation.
  • I had a pet bird that got eaten by a snake.

Did you live in a zoo? Wtf would you want with all those animals?!

No, I didn't live in a zoo. I spent half my life raised in the country, so keeping animals wasn't a problem.

I didn't keep all of those animals at the same time, lol. Those are just some of the animals I had as pets at different times throughout my life.

I like animals. That's why I got them. Though, it took me many years to figure out that I'm really not responsible or patient enough to keep them. The ones I didn't kill, or something else didn't kill, were eventually gotten rid of anyway, one way or another.

Hm I don't really have any specific reaction to death, I didn't encounter it until I already knew that It's a path that can't be avoided and one that everyone is forced to follow, so people are almost already dead anyway, one more or less dosn't really affect me, we all need to go that way soon or later..

And for disasters, well we are already struggleing with overpopulation, so if nature decide to take some away and make room for others then, well.. It's nature..

It's not about the death. The beauty or sadness lies in how well the life was lived. Was it a good life… did you do your best. Will you inherit anything after the funeral? These are the important questions to ask.

Pet keeping. Something else to add to your extensive list of failures. Sigh. Can't you do anything right?

First funeral I ever went to was for my uncle who died falling from a roof he was working on when I was about 11. I didn't care that he was dead and when we were at the wake I tried to open the coffin because I wanted to see how smashed up his head was. To be frank I don't think I'd give two shits if everyone I know died tomorrow and I don't see why anyone else should either. People are so generic you can pretty much be certain that there's others out there almost identical to whoever you've lost.
