And who gives a crap about anybody's "mood" I sure as hell don't. 

Cutesy mood stuff and touchy feely whatever , for what? Your call, your board, but a waste of your time and effort. 

 

Or maybe add little unicorns that fart puffs of coloured stardust , and little chocolate starfish for butthurt posters?.

 I use it to agree with someone's post without having to specifically add an "I agree" post.

Okay, so perhaps they don't care if someone likes or dislike them. I'd argue they wouldn't care regardless. If they are apathetic to the new functions, they can ignore it. Those who do care... well it's their for their use.

Not to mention, this will allow for a more self-moderated forum which flag's it's own posts with NSFW, SPAM, and the like.

if you want to have any say in the development process, your best strategy is to appeal to my reasonable side. any other strategy likely won't be very effective. to appeal to anyone's reasonable side, you must understand things from their perspective. 

how do you ever think you will be able to manipuate people to your will if you don't even know the most effective way to do so?

If I agree with a posters comment, I nod to myself. If I disagree, I tell them in writing. 

The only time I use the feature is to thumb down people that I perceive to have fragile internet feels, thus pissing them off.

Hey Bro, don't forget about how you bring out all your puppets to thumb up your own posts too. Yes, we noticed. Hahaha.
