Death & Burial

Each civilization has its method to honor the dead. I'm curious as to what you would prefer.

Maybe you like cremation, or perhaps you would like a pleasant burial at sea. Mummification Egyptian style or possibly choose preservation like Lenin. You could take someone with you like the vikings or have your body stored in a catacomb with the rest of your ancestors. Maybe a traditional tombstone would suit you or a towering statue of yourself to stand a testament for all of your achievements. Perhaps, you might not care about your vessel after your gone and leave it out for the dogs.

How would you like to be honored when you die.

Each civilization has its method to honor the dead.

That's a major simplification, there's a lot more to that. You wouldn't want to know about all the intricacies and idiosyncrasies surrounding burials often within the same village of the same specific culture of any given period ("civilisation") - but i better don't go into nitpicking.

The topic causes discomfort to me as I still have a skeleton (ok, urn) in the cupboard to bury. Gotta save up money for that.

As for myself, après mois le déluge!

I recently changed my mind about this and would now like to donate all possible organs then have a funeral of my next of kin's choosing. I won't be there anyway, it may as well be something they can tolerate.

I couldn't donate my organs even after death. People are usually appalled that I'm not a donor.

It appeases my selfish need to help others. Even if I destroy everything around me I'll still give someone a chance at life I suppose.

Thrown into a hole and left to rot.

I'd prefer to be left in a unmarked grave, resting above snowy cliff overlooking fields of tundra. Known only to a few, who would make a pilgrimage to this spot and sit next to the blank stone that marks my resting place.

Of course the odds of this all happening are bleak..

While a repost from October, I enjoy Strongbad's taxidermy idea, as well as his recording idea:
