But again, it is not about the inability to learn, it's about not being taught in the first place.
Obviously you people don't know much about sociopaths and there ability to adapt to there surroundings. If this scenario were true I think you would be surprised how normal life would be. A sociopaths will to survive and there ability to adapt would make life in some aspects probably better than most of us have it now. Just because a sociopath is capable of horrendous crimes doesn't mean they can't live a normal life as long as you could avoid war. Then we would be fucked.
when you add the more narcissistic sociopaths with low impulse control, they will create a domino effect among the more chilled individuals. because narc sociopaths will be corrupt and the rest of the sociopathic population will want to get back at them, if they find out they are being manipulated. and they will find out, because of the low impulse control. there will be some structure, but i doubt it will be any bigger then a mob family, which will also have lots of internal family problems.
empathy makes sure you care for others, so you do not harm them and in return they also care about you and do not harm you. its preserves the species as a group, not as an individual
unless everyone are very well adapted psychopaths, it just wont be a nice. the other problem is, they might just not care even if they are well adapted. because they are bored.
Paths as the primary personality type.... Interesting.
Paths are generally highly adaptable and able to sculpture themselves to fit in well with their surrounds. That is one of the protective factors built into most humans and seems a little more honed in the higher functioning, organised Path. So would society crumble... Possibly, may depend on precisely who holds the majority of the power. As has been wisely stated, the more narcissistic types will ultimately destroy everything around them - it really is in their self absorbed genetic makeup.
So I if those were the predominant type then yes, there is the very real possibility that society as we know it would regress and we would return to ye olde days where I would become extraordinarily wealthy, powerful and terribly important as I have a large number of breeding livestock, land and therefore am self sufficient. Then I could be a Liege Lady, raise an army and go rampaging around the Country with Paths.......
Ok - that may be my inner nerd emerging so ignore all that.
The opinion that stood out for me is that emotional content is related to I.Q.
This I find can be somewhat true. (Disclaimer: I am going to generalise a wee tad here folks)
Paths with a high score on the checklist often score well on I.Q tests. They are highly adaptable and have the capacity to recognise emotion in others and have usually learnt the socially expected emotional response to a situation. Whilst they may not feel the emotion, they are cognitively able to recognise the correct emotion/ response to portray. It becomes a choice. At times they have sufficient motivation to do this, at times they do not.
Some Paths, particularly those with a co-morbid mental health diagnosis and a lower I.Q score, struggle to possess the required patience/motivation/interest in learning these emotional responses so are both incapable of 'displaying' them and generally do not understand them in others.
I must say that socio-economic factors do appear to exert a powerful influence on the ability to read and act out emotional responses. It appears that Paths from a higher socio-economic background have lower offending rates (that they are apprehended for) and display a greater capacity to mimic emotional responses. So there is a great deal of room for study there.
The psychiatric community needs to conduct far more research into successful/high functioning (however you want to term it) Paths if they really want to know how glorious the world would be if Paths truly ruled it.
Interesting Discussion....
