What is your diagnosis?

by Helena

Axis II disorders take time to diagnose - Demon's so keen on having us believe that her patience threshold is too low to withstand multiple therapeutic sessions that we're going to have to infer that she's had no long term therapy. She's also insisted on this fact in the past, because actually admitting to have attended therapy - for any reason at all - would damage her reputation as an Internet Badass. No credible psychiatrist would throw the labels of AsPD and SD on a patient who'd just walked into their office off the street one day.

I had already been seeing the psychologist for months before he diagnosed me and I have mentioned why numerous times. At no stage did I ever claim that I simply walked in off the street and was diagnosed immediately.

Aspd is the cool cat club

No, it's not...

It has a negative impact on people's lives, and I know that from first-hand experience. It's not called a disorder for no reason.

It has a negative impact but for some reason people with AsPD tend to not be interested in change.

That's because we see nothing wrong with what we're doing. That may sound contradictory, considering I am aware of the negative impact of AsPD, but I still don't see why I should change.

The negative impact relates to irresponsibility and self-destructive behavior, which many people with AsPD actually enjoy - drinking, drugging and taking dangerous risks.

I hate responsibility. I'd rather avoid responsibility than change and become more responsible. And even though I know that some things I do are self-destructive, the way I see it, you've gotta die of something. May as well die doing something I enjoy. If it kills me one day, then so be it.

Change equals conformity. Why change to suit society when I'd rather suit myself and do whatever I damn well want.

How do you figure that?

Chasing my hedonistic desires doesn't mean I've given up on life. I'm not going to stop doing what I like to do just because there is a possibility of death. I don't actually want to die. I'm not suicidal. I just don't fear death.
