Refusing To Treat A Patient

So, I was just told that my current medical doctor no longer wishes to have a therapeutic relationship with me, nor does my previous medical doctor.

I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. The last psychologist I saw refused to continue therapy with me as well.

I'm curious if any of you have had a similar experience and why you believe you were refused treatment, be it medical or psychological.

Lol, so you watched this week's episode of Hannibal too...

I don't watch Hannibal, so I'm not sure what that has to do with anything.

The therapist I saw at college had me stop coming when she found me too confusing. Tried to have me receive an official diagnosis, which seemed to only confuse her further.

By the end of it all I learned a great deal about her, while I noticed sharing details about myself had her percieved foundation of understanding soften.

Hannibal's psychiatrist ended her doctor/patient relationship with him, because  Hannibal felt "dangerous" to her. :)

Mine considers me a potential threat.

Wait. The doctor went ahead and did tests but is now refusing to see you due to feeling threatened? This makes zero sense.

Most common cause for this is that the practice is no longer accepting the type of insurance you use. Since you're probably on the Australian version of Medicare there may be special guidelines you need to be aware of.

Just from a simple google search this came up:

I find it extremely hard to believe that a doctor would run tests and THEN decide to no longer see you.

Edit: I'm still looking. There are many articles about patients who smoke and their limited coverage. Would that apply to you?

My doctor was not the one who ran the tests. I had to see a specialist for a specific reason. She took a sample from me and told me the test results would be sent to my doctor in a week or so. So, I made an appointment to see my doctor when I thought the test results would be there. Then today I find out, from a different doctor in the same clinic, that my current doctor is refusing to treat me.

Her refusal to treat me has nothing do with my medical issues or my medical cover. It has to do with something I told her confidentially the last time I saw her. She obviously perceived it as a possible threat.

My previous doctor also does not want to treat me again either, apparently. So, I was basically told not to try and see that doctor again either.

I had a dentist who "fired" me as a patient because I wouldn't get a bridge. He was all about how much my insurance would pay and I was all about the out of pocket expense I would still owe.

Thrill, you should sue for a refund of what you paid for the test.

Hmmm. I'm curious, why do you think you need therapy, or do you? What was the reason they gave for discontinuing treatment?
