Judging other's, what does it do for you?

So...I was talking to Demon about judging others, because I'm curious. She suggested I start a thread, so here it is.

We're all 'guilty' of judging other people, whether it be on looks, job, finances, etc. My question, to you, is why? What pleasure, satisfaction, gratification, etc. do you get out of it? For me...I'm not sure. Maybe a sense of superiority? Perhaps you know yourself better that I and can shed some light?

It's not the judgment that counts, it's how ye 'wield' it!

Woah i made the front huge and i have no idea how.

Now its small again

Judgment simply places people in different boxes in your mind :)

Sometimes, for me ( not often ) it arises when I dislike someone for no obvious reason. Then the  judgements are to justify my disliking them . I  realise when I am being OTT.  Then I  compensate ( focus on the bearable  points) and  end up being more accepting.

Mostly it is too much effort to judge and dislike. . . . .and unnecessary. It is much easier to ignore...

In other cases,

Maybe jealousy has something to do with being judgemental ; maybe feeling intimidated or inadequate; or maybe it arises from intolerance to those who think differently?

I view judgemental people as weak.

When a person is judgemental,  it all to well shows their insecurities.

For the most part, people that judge have been hurt or harmed by certain ideas or beings that the observed person seems to project. I find it eerily similar to the rorschacks psychologists, therapists and mental health doctors alike use to help identify their patients state of mind.

In short, judging mirrors your thoughts and your weaknesses.  It also closes many opportunistic doors in today's society,

At risk of drawing some sort of idiotic comment from 'Thrill Kill' (let's not even START analysing the thought pattern that led to that choice)

Judgement and the act of judging another person/situation/circumstance is a pretty basic primal mid-brain action. It is what forms part of the 'survival instinct'. The fact that 90% of the mind-numbingly boring population have an atrophied survival mechanism aside, it would appear that this judgement factor has remained.

This has then been picked up on by rather screwed and possibly sociopathic marketing guru's who have capitalised on this and use it 'encourage' the masses to purchase the latest fad.

So to revel in ones ability to judge is odd. A little like revelling in ones ability to breathe........

Judging is essential, if you want to interact with people!

How else are you going to judge their character and of what value are they :)
