Apparently I'm very good at hiding in plain site, or the therapist would have admitted me to the psych ward for taking a knife into therapy. I didn't threaten him with it. I only wanted to get a point across. 

I just told him that I'd bought the knife recently and wanted to show it off, but what I was really saying is, "I'm carrying a knife and I'm thinking of using it on someone. I feel like I'm losing control".
