How can you say it happened to you when you admitted that your 'partner-in-crime' wrote down everything in her diary?

That's not the same as simply saying "I (or we, in your case) stole something". Those three words alone won't hold up in a court of law.

If someone mentioned things they're planning to do, such as sell drugs, rob a bank, commit a murder or shoot up a school, then the NSA or the federal police will very likely take action.

They certainly would come knocking on the door eventually if the case is big enough like in the Silk Road website case which was a site selling & distributing narcotics but it's because their leader was everything but subtle.

And the feds didn't even manage to put a stop to it there's a Silk Road 2.0.

Investigations take time, effort and are expensive.

That was his fiancee that was the blabber mouth not him. The point is my friend & I committed the crime together, the cops had an account of what happened thanks to my friend's fiancee's diary but couldn't find anything in my house so no proof, it was my word against hers'. And I was way more credible than a 16yo semi-literate girl.

On the other hand they found stolen goods at my friend's house so he got indicted and more importantly didn't snitch me. Since the topic is crimes that we committed but for which we didn't get caught I think this one fits.

Personally, I think you guys are too paranoid. I understand that you might think it's better to not mention your crimes and be safe than sorry, but I still think you're worrying over nothing.

Nobody is expecting you to go into detail.

I mentioned my crimes and you don't see me getting all worried over it.

And I wasn't even asking for details as stated in the OP.

I must sound like a broken record but if people want to give some details and are afraid (here's a good post for the 'fear' topic)  just check the statute of limitations in your country and change some details.

1. Addict? No. I use alcohol and cannabis regularly. One more than the other depending on my whim, but I wouldn't consider it an addiction. I've learned self control with much more destructive urges; dependency on chemicals seems trivial in my eyes.

2. Obviously. But I assume you mean something more serious than running a red light. Also yes.

"1. Caffeine, but that doesn't count, does it?"

That depends how badly you have it and how often you bother to hydrate. When you try to stop consuming it do you experience any of these to the point of impairment:

o Chills and/or hot spells
o Decreased alertness
o Depressed mood
o Difficulty concentrating or thinking
o Digestive issues (usually constipation, but sometimes also nausea and / or vomiting)
o Fatigue, lethargy and / or sleepiness
o Headaches, ranging from moderate to severe, and usually starting behind the eyes before spreading
o Irritability (moderate to extreme) and restlessness
o Insomnia (Although it seems counterintuitive, this can be an issue for some people!)
o Muscle stiffness and / or pain
o Sinus issues (usually blocked sinuses or cold-like symptoms)

I did a project on it when I saw what an old roomie of mine visibly went through when he tried to quit it cold turkey after it became a very regular thing for him.

I prefer to use sugary fruit drinks these days.

Yeah, almost all of them actually. Today, I was especially fatigued. This time I got chocolate to lessen the withdraw a little. I've been trying to kick it for the past few months, even went back on meds to try to deal with the depression side effects of it. The fact that I drink my coffee with creamer, and would creep up to 2-3 pots in a day, has got my cholestrol high.

I drank it as a booster to my normally "blah" mood I guess.

Diet is also important to consider if you're on any medications. Coffee's an example.

Just switch to green tea and you're good to go.
