Are we a family?

Hi everyone,

So I have been considering life, and all that, and I often feel like such a weirdo because I don't have that many friends, but I must say that I feel a sense of belonging with this community. Being able to post my feelings and express myself has enabled me to show my true self to you guys, and even though I can't relate your personalities to real names, they exist none-the-less, and I feel as if having an understanding of you guys. We are creating history with eachother, culture, memmories. I'd argue it might even be viewed as bonding, and that we are becoming a small little family.

So what do you guys think? Do you feel attached to the personalities you meet here? Do you enjoy "knowing" people here, and the sense of belonging and ability to freely express yourself without judgement?

Thanks!

Luna

P.S. Don't make fun of my lack of friends!! I have experimented with having lots of friends in real life, and it's not worth the effort!! With online friends, though, it seems to be different. Less aggressive, more freedom, privacy, and liberty from fear of being judged. :)

I'd argue that since the majority here is constantly on the defence or offence, that there is very little bonding actually taking place because there is very little sincerity. plenty of manipulation but I don't think anyone believes the majority of what others say, which leaves an environment where there is very little trust. and while actual loyalty isnt required a belief that it is there is...

so no, while i can at times respect the intellect and humor of some here, the dynamic here is not one of family. perhaps one of an anarchaic gang of bandits... but not a family...

and i believe your perception of such a thing comes from your youth and background with a desire to belong. being a child of adoption and all...

Do you think there's anyone on the forum that isn't manipulating people?

I think "family" is definitely a too strong word for this online den. There are people here I genuinely like and respect, one of which I'm really hoping to meet in real life sooner or later. I think you get to "know" people here in ways you don't get to know in real life, even if it's only through their bullshit.

With online friends, though, it seems to be different. Less aggressive,
more freedom, privacy, and liberty from fear of being judged. :)

I really have to disagree with this though. We have a lot of aggresivity and judgement going on here, lmao.

On the other hand, ppl like "Jesus" here definitely spend a lot more time on this site than in real life, with their family, lovers and friends (if they even have any). This means they get emotionally and mentally very invested in this place, and like to interact with the posters here more than with offline people.

Sounds like you're projecting little eddie... your obsession with me has taken a whole new level... try and psychoanalyse me all you want... you'll little mind will never understand me or how to be me as you so achingly desire...
